Introduction to the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Center
The Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Center at Tehran University of Medical Sciences commenced its operations in 1995 at Dr. Shariati Hospital, focusing on both basic and clinical sciences. Since 1999, it has been recognized as a scientific and research hub for endocrinology and metabolism. Owing to its significant contributions to research on diabetes, osteoporosis, and other endocrine disorders, the center was elevated to the status of a research institute in 2010. In 2011, it was established as an independent department, continuing its clinical and research activities under the guidance of distinguished faculty members.
Research Lines of the Endocrinology Research Center
1.    Studies on Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases: This includes comprehensive research into the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of endocrine disorders.
2.    Interdisciplinary Studies: Collaboration with other disciplines such as genetics, epidemiology, social sciences, and health
economics to gain a better understanding of the factors influencing the occurrence and progression of endocrine diseases.
3.    Development of Disease Registries: Establishment of a comprehensive database for collecting, analyzing, and managing data on patients with endocrine disorders.
4.    Expansion of Specialized Clinics: Providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with endocrine disorders and conducting clinical research.
